A.ICOMOS Consultation on UNESCO ICH Convention Ratification

The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts has commissioned Navin Officer Heritage Consultants to provide some preliminary advice about the possible ratification by Australia of the UNESCO 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003 Convention).

This is a workshop for Australia ICOMOS members held jointly with the Australia ICOMOS National Scientific Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritage (NSC-ICH).

As part of our work, we are doing a rapid scan across potentially interested sectors of the Australian community to determine interest in the 2003 Convention and how best it might be implemented in the Australian context.

Australia ICOMOS and particularly the national scientific committee on intangible cultural heritage are likely to have valuable insights into this issue. Your participation in this workshop will help us formulate advice to the Australian Government on pathways for possible ratification of the 2003 convention.
