    Event description

Join Megan Alice Clune as she returns to Ainslie Salon on 5 May 2023, to launch her most recent release 'Furtive Glances' with an intimate set of minimal, ambient piano with electronic processing. Alongside her is artist and composer Genie Stuart who creates immersive sound works

"Across each breathtakingly intimate moment of Furtive Glances, (Megan Alice) Clune creates a sense of space and then transforms it completely." Bandcamp Daily

Following successful performances in Naarm/Melbourne, Megan Alice Clune returns to Ainslie Salon to launch her most recent release 'Furtive Glances'. Her work explores the dynamic relationships between music, technology, the body and temporality through composition, performance and installation. She has performed, presented work and undertaken residencies across Australia, Asia, Europe and North America, including VividLIVE at the Sydney Opera House, Institute of Modern Art (Meanjin/Brisbane) and The Substation (Naarm/Melbourne).

"Furtive Glances is diaristic, compelling in its melodic wanderings and emotive sheen... it channels a different spirit, something visceral and ethereal that gets at our central essence and pulls us deeper into these sounds." Foxy Digitalis

Joining Clune on the night will be Genie Stuart, an artist and composer living on Ngunawal/Ngunnawal/Ngambri land, currently in residence at Gorman Arts Centre through the Emerging Artist Studio Program. Her recent works, ‘everything that rises must converge’ and ‘don____NT))CRY4_me!!!!!!Im BRAVE” are immersive sound works that use recorded sounds and internet footage to engage simultaneous dis/connection experienced online. She experiments with long form sound essays that create links between community, law and voice.

Box office and bar open from 6.30 pm, performance from 7 pm.

Presented by Arts Capital at Ainslie Arts Centre. Arts Capital is supported by the ACT Government.
