AKL: Morning People Gaza Fundraiser feat. Beccie B, Marjorie Sinclair + Heylady
Event description
Dance in solidarity with Palestine - join us for an extra special THREE HOUR party on Saturday 10th August to call for a ceasefire in Gaza, the return of hostages and to raise money for humanitarian support.
The party will be headed up by DJ extraordinaires Beccie B, Heylady and Marjorie Sinclair.
We’re joining together to show our support for a peaceful resolution, and to raise money to provide aid.
Over 42,230 Palestinian civilians have been killed, including 15,813 children and 10,292 women. 1,750,000 people have been displaced, and 474,750 homes have been damaged or destroyed completely.
The basic necessities of life in Gaza have been destroyed - 31 of 36 hospitals, 110 clinics, 239 ambulances, 80% of schools including all 12 universities, 700 mosques and 3 churches have been damaged, 2,620 industrial facilities have been destroyed, and 60% of farmland has been damaged or destroyed.
Alongside civilians, 224 humanitarian aid workers and 105 palestinian journalists have been killed, and 3,120 Palestinian people have been forcibly detained or disappeared.
The conflict also extends beyond Gaza - in the occupied West Bank 470 Palestinians have been killed in the last 10 months, including 116 children, and the World Health Organisation has reported 447 attacks on healthcare facilities in the region.
Alongside the devastating Palestinian death toll, over 1400 Israelis have also been killed.
We stand with the UN and the International Court of Justice in calling for an immediate ceasefire, and the return of hostages on both sides of the conflict.
“The High Commissioner for Human Rights stresses once again that the violence must end. There must be a ceasefire, and the hostages must be released. Reconstruction of Gaza must begin. And the occupation must end, accountability must be served and the internationally agreed two-State solution must become a reality.”
Expect the usual Morning People niceness - complimentary Altezano Brothers coffee, fruit, drinks, and dance floor heat - bringing the Morning People community together for a good cause.
