Event description

The 8th Al Awda Film Festival  - مهرجان العودة السينمائي الفلسطيني

The Al Awda Film Festival is held in Sydney to showcase and document stories of the ongoing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza by the criminal Zionist occupation forces, and to celebrate the mythical steadfastness of the people of Gaza!

From the displacement camps of Gaza and under the bombardment of the Zionist criminal war planes and tanks, and despite the cruel and murderous siege, film makers are still working relentlessly for Palestinian cinema to highlight the steadfastness of our people in Gaza, and to affirm the right to return through the International Return Film Festival.

Despite all the hardships, director and producer Saud Muhanna and director Yosef Khattab have set out to make films that document the life of exile and the stories of children and women in the face of the genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The event will showcase multiple short films produced by many reputable Arab film makers about the Palestinian ongoing struggle for justice, freedom and liberation. Over the course of the event, we will also include a musical session from the Palestinian heritage, screenings of the nominated short films, and handing in awards for the winning films.

The event will also include light dinner and a consortium of Palestinian art work displayed at the venue from different Palestinian artists from around Palestine.

The Al Awda Film Festival is hosted by the Palestinian Film Forum, in collaboration with Palestinian Australians Welfare Association and Palestine Justice Movement Sydney.

Tickets for the event and donations will be used to cover the organising costs and to help and support families in Gaza.

We look forward to seeing you there.
