Albany and Denmark Geocaching Sept 2023
Event description
Looking for a fun, engaging, outdoors activity for the kids these school holidays?
Outdoors Great Southern offers children aged 8-12 years the opportunity to learn about geocaching in a fun, safe environment this school holidays.
If you haven't heard of geocaching, check out our blog post on the topic, which describes what this unique trend is all about and what's required to participate.
In a nutshell, think of it as a worldwide treasure hunt where anyone in the world with a smartphone can access the treasure map. It's a great way to get children discovering their environment, learning about GPS technology and participating in group activities.
Participants will be provided with all equipment necessary to start geocaching at the session.
If time allows, children will also be guided in building makeshift shelters and play team games. Numbers are strictly limited to ensure children have the best learning opportunity and are well supervised.
What to bring:
- A hat
- Sunscreen (we will also provide top-ups)
- Water bottle
- Packed lunch (no nuts please)
- Enclosed shoes (no thongs, Crocs or sandals)
- Light jacket in case of rain
- Enthusiasm!
What to leave at home:
- Phones/tablets etc
- Toys, jewellery or anything else of value
This is a drop-off and pick up event, with registration commencing at 10am and pick up at 1pm. To ensure smooth running on the day, please be prompt with these times.
The 🌱Outdoors Great Southern team's growing reputation in the outdoors industry now extends to experienced, knowledgeable skills training for children and adults, with a goal of building an active, outdoors community.
