The Album Show - 50 Years Of 1976
Event description
The Album Show — 50 Years of 1976
The Album Show returns with a new series of ever-evolving shows that celebrate iconic anniversaries of significant years in music — changing every year. The next in this series is “50 Years of 1976”, focusing on music released or recorded in 1976 from all around the world. It was a key year of social evolution, with musical styles and popular culture growing, combining and breeding new sounds and styles — characteristics that still resonate 50 years later.
1976 was a critical year in music history: the smooth sounds of West Coast country rock, the high point of ’70s pure pop, the dying echoes of glam, the growing wave of disco, and even the first stirrings of punk all defined this important moment. With artists like Wings, Rod Stewart, AC/DC, Elton John, Bee Gees, Fleetwood Mac, ABBA, Eagles, The Bay City Rollers and many more, it proved pivotal in crystallising contemporary pop music.
With a five-piece band, striking visuals and a little bit of a history lesson, The Album Show will present as many of these iconic tracks as possible in a two-set, two-hour-plus show.
