Alcoa Rehabilitation Field Trip
Description
Are you a student or early-career professional and interested in how environmental restoration is planned, implemented and monitored in the mining sector?
In collaboration with Alcoa Australia, Restore WA invites you to a one-day field trip to Alcoa's Huntly operation in the Northern Jarrah to see what goes into rehabilitation efforts in a forested landscape in South-West Western Australia.
During this one-day event, attendees will have the opportunity to:
Get a tour across Alcoa's rehabilitation efforts from pre-1980 till now, and understand the factors that influenced rehabilitation efforts across time.
Hear from Alcoa staff working across topsoil management, botany and fauna to learn about what goes into mine rehabilitation across the stages of a mining cycle.
Learn about the array of research programs currently being undertaken through the Forest Research Centre to improve rehabilitation outcomes across Alcoa's operations.
