    Event description

Music in the Regions in partnership with Glen Innes Arts Council present Alex Raineri.

Described as “a born communicator” (The Australian), award-winning pianist, Alex Raineri, has toured extensively both nationally and internationally. With a touring profile in 2024 that includes performances throughout the USA, UK, Ireland, Finland, and the Netherlands, Alex will include NSW’s North-East this November.

A passionate exponent and commissioner of contemporary music, having commissioned over 70 works and given over 130 premieres to date, Alex has commissioned 4 of the 5 Australian works featured within his Fairytales program.

Weaving tales of passion, loss, and beauty, Fairytales showcases works by contemporary Australian composers John Rotar, Michael Bakrnčev, Katy Abbott, and Ian Whitney, culminating in Melody Eötvös’ Piano Sonata No. 2, based on a lesser-known Hans Christian Andersen tale, ‘A Story from the Sand Dunes’.

    About Alex Raineri:

Hailed as a “brilliant young musician” (Otago Times), and a “soloist of superb virtuosic skill and musicality” (Limelight), Alex Raineri is active internationally and throughout Australia as a pianist, harpsichordist, composer, recitalist, concerto soloist, chamber musician, writer, producer, and educator.

International performances include tours throughout USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Finland, Netherlands, Southeast Asia and New Zealand. Within Australia, Alex has appeared as a feature artist in many major festivals and venues. As a concerto soloist he has appeared with the Queensland, Tasmanian, Darwin and West Australian Symphony Orchestras, Orchestra Victoria, and others. He has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, Radio NZ, California Capital Public Radio, ABC Classic FM and all Australian MBS Networks.

In addition to Alex's illustrious performing career, he is also the Artistic Director of the annual Brisbane Music Festival and Brisbane’s inner-city music venue, FourthWall Arts.
