Join leading international conductor and pedagogue, Alice Farnham, as she teaches the conducting students of the Elder Conservatorium of Music, University of Adelaide for this unique, open masterclass. This is a rare opportunity to see a conducting teacher of this calibre in action, working with high level young conductors who are drawn from around the country.

This masterclass will be a great learning opportunity for conductors working with school and community groups, and eligible final year students and graduate interested in learning more about the art and craft of conducting.

A short Q&A session with Alice will follow the masterclass.

This masterclass is free for final year students and graduates (up to five years from final year of study) from our partner institutions. Check your eligibility here.

ABOUT ALICE FARNHAM
Short-listed for the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society Conductor Award in 2024 and listed in the Classic FM Today's Ten Best Women Conductors and in the BBC Woman's Hour Music Power List, Alice Farnham is a British Conductor, renowned teacher and published author. She trained at the St. Petersburg Conservatoire with the legendary pedagogue Ilya Musin.

Guest conducting includes the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, BBC Concert Orchestra, Jönköping Sinfonietta, Royal National Symphony Orchestra of Scotland, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Opéra de Rouen Normandie, Malmö Opera, Mariinsky Theatre, Calgary Opara, Folkoperan Stockholm, Longborough Festival Opera, and Wermlands Opera.

Alice is renowned for her work in training the next generation of conductors, particularly in her ground-breaking programmes encouraging women into conducting.

Since 2014 Alice has been Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Women Conductors with the Royal Philharmonic Society, and the National Concert Hall Dublin – Female Conductor Programme (2017-2021), and Artistic Advisor of Perth Symphony Orchestra – Women on the Podium (2019-).
