    Event description

Braidwood Folk Club is very pleased to host Alistair Brown, Scottish-born folk singer and concertina player, on Thursday 16th March. Known for his technical skills and ability to captivate an audience, Alistair's performances include traditional and trad-style songs with concertina/ button accordion accompaniment, clever repartee and some rollicking yarns. Alistair is a respected performer around the globe, making regular appearances at concerts and festivals across North America, Australia, New Zealand and the UK. He is also active in many other facets of folk music, having been a radio broadcaster, columnist, festival director, dance teacher, university folk music course lecturer and artistic director for summer residential music programmes.

Please come and enjoy our CONCERT at 7:30pm at the Braidwood Uniting Church, on the corner of Monkittee and Duncan Streets. The concert will feature Alistair's songs and stories and will be a great night of entertainment. Floor spots also available for others to contribute a song, tune or poem (If you'd like to request a floor spot, please contact us in advance). Concert tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for Braidwood Folk Music Club members/ concession, with children under 16 free. Tickets can be purchased either using the 'Get Tickets' button here in Humanitix or by cash at the door on the evening of the concert.

As a bonus feature of his visit to Braidwood, Alistair will run a WORKSHOP for musicians and singers in the afternoon prior to the concert, 4 - 5:30pm at the Royal Mail Hotel, Wallace St. Bring your instrument/ voice and come along to the workshop to participate in learning some UK traditional songs and tunes along with Alistair and other musicians. Pre-booking is necessary for the workshop - You can register to attend either via the 'Get Tickets' button here or by emailing us at braidwoodfolkclub@gmail.com. The fee to attend the workshop is flexible, depending on your circumstances, e.g. whether you will also attend the concert... we do hope you will come to both events!  Concert and workshop fees directly support our feature artists so that they can continue to bring us great musical experiences.

We note that our events on Thursday 16th March will be followed up by the nearby Majors Creek Festival running 17th-19th March, which will deliver many other great folk music acts... why not combine these events as part of your trip!

Please drop us a line at braidwoodfolkclub@gmail.com for more information on any of the above. Looking forward to sharing these events with you :)
