About Alkina

Since 2015, Alkina has pursued a deep understanding of its land to craft authentic terroir wines and farm regeneratively. With a warm, dry, and windy climate, the Barossa site has successfully transitioned to certified organic and biodynamic viticulture, encouraging soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem resilience. The farm spans 60 hectares, with 43 under vine, and includes the original vineyard (certified since 2018) and the Owens Vineyard (certified in 2022). Through Electro Conductivity Mapping and terroir specialist, Pedro Parra’s detailed analysis, the team has identified distinct geological micro-terroirs which are picked and vinified separately, allowing winemaking to be guided by the land rather than technique. Native habitat restoration, insect biodiversity, cover cropping, and the elimination of synthetic inputs all contribute to a vibrant, life-filled vineyard where nature and viticulture exist in harmony.

“An unendingly impressive project. The wines are pristine and quite out of step with "traditional Barossa" in terms of their construction, yet the dirt and terroir are foregrounded at all times. So, from another perspective, it is very, very Barossan. Awesome.” Erin Larkin, Robert Parker Wine Advocate

“Alkina is potentially the most exciting new project to hit the Barossa Valley in recent times. It’s the originality of its approach to the traditional grape varieties and wine styles of the region that is so arresting”. Huon Hooke, The Real Review
