Event description

This All Abilities School Holiday Art Workshop is led by local artist Maddie Hoy, a role model for children living with disability. Maddie will facilitate the workshop with the support of her mentor, Art Gallery of Ballarat Educator, Pauline O’Shannessy-Dowling. This workshop is delivered in collaboration with the Art Gallery of Ballarat through its outreach program!

When: Wednesday 9 July 2025

Time: 10:00am - 12:00pm

Where: Refreshment Table, Level 1, Ballarat Library (178 Doveton Street North, Ballarat Central).

Art workshop theme: This workshop will teach participants to create origami style bookmarks!

This workshop is for children and young people - carers and parents welcome!!

Accessibility information (Ballarat Library):

  • 2 parks located in the library carpark off Doveton St N

  • 3 carparks located in Market St at the back of the library 

  • Automatic entry double doors 

  • Lift accessibility to the first floor

  • Seating is not fixed and can be moved for greater access 

  • Assistance animals are welcome, including an assistance dog within the meaning of section 4(1) of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic). 

  • Accredited Changing Places bathroom (access with MLAK key)

  • 2 all gender accessible bathrooms 

  • Ambulant toilet cubicles in both male and female bathrooms 

  • Large print books – There is a collection of books with larger font size to make it easier to read.

  • There are collections of audio “talking books” which are recordings of books which you can listen to. These are available on CD or digitally.

  • Communication Boards available at staff information desks.

  • Comfortable seating for baby feeding 

  • Nappy changing table and bins 

  • Parent and child-sized toilets
