All About Telescopes

Are you interested in buying a telescope but unsure of what to get? Do you own a telescope and would like to know more about how it works and get more out of it.  There are many kinds of telescopes with different optical, mechanical and computer aided features. You will learn their differences, how to use them, and what they can show you in the night sky.

All About Telescopes is a two-hour course where we will cover the basics you need to know:

• a brief history of astronomical telescopes

• how the different kinds of telescopes work

• price points and advantages vs disadvantages

• what you can see with different types of telescopes

• what to look for when buying a telescope

• a session in the planetarium – where to point your telescope in the sky

• where to get more information.
