All Welcome: Gender & LGBTQIA+ 101
Event description
A huge part of working towards a sustainable, ecologically-centred world is creating a safe and welcoming home for all beings.
Across Gumbaynggirr Country, there are many LGBTQIA+ people with diverse identities that are active across different spaces. There is already wonderful work happening to create safer environments, and yet at times these identities are still overlooked or forgotten, and we can miss out on the richness that diversity brings.
Come along to this workshop for an introduction to LGBTQIA+ and queer inclusivity. We’ll explore the basics of gender, trans and non-binary identities, key terminology, storytelling, and practical ways to create safer spaces for all.
The session will be facilitated by CEL member, Zianna Fuad, together with others bringing their own lived experience to share.
Details:
Thursday October 23rd, 6-8pm
In Bellingen - Venue TBC
Who is this for?
This workshop is for anyone who wants to learn more about using respectful language, being a better ally, or creating more inclusive spaces. It’s relevant for family members, workplaces, community groups, and anyone curious about LGBTQIA+ and queer inclusion.
We aim to create a space where all genuine questions are welcomed and thoughtfully made room for, so everyone can learn in a supportive and respectful environment.
To truly move towards ecological and social resilience, we must weave queer inclusivity into all aspects of our living, working, and relating.
Come with an open mind and heart, and open to the gift that queer identities offer to the world.
Offering by donation. Please bring cash if you are able to give a small contribution. Donations will go in part to the facilitator and to CEL’s environmental education work.
