Harbour Voices "Alpine Echoes - Journey to Bavaria & Beyond"
Event description
Harbour Voices' first concert of 2025 is inspired by the lilting, romantic melodies and dancing rhythms of Edward Elgar's "Scenes from the Bavarian Highlands". The programme celebrates the sounds and traditions of Bavaria and Austria, which served as inspiration for our cornerstone works: the aforementioned Elgar and selections from Johannes Brahms' "Liebeslieder Walzer" and "Zigeunerlider".
Complementing these pieces are sacred works by Austrian composers, W.A. Mozart and Anton Bruckner, alongside beloved classics such as Brahms' "Lullaby", Richard Strauss' "Also Sprach Zarathustra" (famously known as the theme song from "2001: A Space Odyssey"), "Edelweiss" and a traditional yodel song.
We look forward to welcoming you to our concert at 2.30 pm Sunday 18 May 2025 at St Georges Presbyterian Church, 2 The Terrace, Takapuna, Auckland. Tickets are available via Humanitix or at the door an hour before the concert. Please join us for afternoon tea and drinks afterwards -- we always love speaking with and meeting our wonderful audience members!
