Event description

Time to feel the love once more Brisbane.

It’s a privilege to be with you once again with an extra special joint offering. A Love Supreme and Bad Taste House Collective are proud to present a special outerzonal journey of mutual purpose. Join us in welcoming the inimitable PAULA TAPE, MYLES MAC, DJ POSSUM and Brisbane’s own CHEEK2CHEEK. It’s an absolute pleasure to bring together a sonic offering of this caliber. After the landscape of the start of the year led to each crew having to cancel events, it’s only fitting to come together in providing an environment with the intention to engage positively with music once again in a beautiful outdoor space.

PAULA TAPE

The Milan-based, Chilean DJ, producer and label owner has been very busy spreading her musical seeds across the globe for the past few years. Let’s start with her current residency on Worldwide FM where she hosts her monthly show Astral Jam, a journey into odd rhythms, leftfield sounds and organic dance. Previously Paula created ‘Music For Plants’ on Radio Raheem in Milan, conceptually similar, sharing beloved records and new discoveries. Her love of digging led her to co-found “Tempo Dischi”, a label dedicated to Italian reissues of rarities, distributed by Rush Hour which she is still heavily involved in. Paula’s passion runs deep and can be felt through a number of tangible offerings, most recently seen on the ever influential “Rhythm Section Int.” Collaboration is key for her practice and has been seen on a number of other releases with the likes of Project Pablo, Iñigo Vontier, Volantis, Tornado Wallace and Elias Mazian. All of these musical endeavors form a beautiful backbone for when she performs. As a DJ, Paula has taken the world by storm with standout performances for Boiler Room and Mixmag. Playing internationally all year round with a captivating approach to controlling dance floors. The notable percussive elements in Paula’s selections stems from playing the drums in various indie bands as a youth, thus influencing her passion for polyrhythmic patterns. Her sets broaden the gap between intricate rhythms and eclectic sounds with sophisticated selections that blend the Balearic, Italo and synth house worlds with experimental sounds and percussive wonder. Paula is ever growing and evolving, we hope you can experience this part of her musical footprint.

MYLES MAC

This humble operator has been a constant gardener of Dance Music culture for all the right reasons. His ever reliable and ocean-spanning platform Melbourne Deepcast has been a guiding light for so many since it’s formation in 2009. Bringing together highly curated sounds and attitudes from global innovators and friends. He offers you a place to feel a part of something bigger without leaving the comfort of your own room. Deepcast is truly a part of Myles’ soul, something all of us who interact with music in any form should aspire to. It should come as no surprise that Myles has taken great care creating dance experiences throughout the years, including the infamous Lost Weekend club night which quickly became one of the country's most respected parties. Of course his DJ stylings are truly something to behold also, bringing together sounds of tranquility and pure energy without effort or pretense. Whether it’s crafting a 4 hour expedition through his personal definition of electronic music or paying homage to the originators of dance as Project 95, he’ll never miss a beat. When Myles takes to the turntables there is a sense that you might hear something unexpectedly familiar, uniquely different or just downright bananas.

DJ POSSUM

Based in Melbourne for over a decade now, Maria refers to herself as an unpinned DJ in regards to genre. Despite this she finds cohesion in her selections to tell a story to a dance floor. Her musical selections include highlife, psychedelic cumbia, brazilian funk, reggaeton, ethno beat, disco, UK Underground street soul, 90s Hip Hop, soulful electronic love songs, early house classics and if you can believe it, many more. Amongst many variations of these styles and genres she plays new and old sounds, forms and structures with their own set of poetics and cultural identity. She is fully dedicated to 100% real dance music coming out of suburbs, projects & slums from around the world.

ALS, BTHC and all other relevant parties involved acknowledge the Turrbal and Yugara as the traditional custodians of the land on which we live, work and create. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. We also acknowledge and celebrate their history as our planet’s first artists, musicians and storytellers.
