Alt2Su Training | Sale | 17–18 September 2026
Description
Alternatives to Suicide (Alt2Su) is a peer-led approach that fosters open and non-judgmental conversations about suicide. Developed by the Wildflower Alliance (USA), Alt2Su creates safe spaces where people can explore and share their experiences without clinical intervention, coercion, or risk management protocols focusing on surveillance and hospitalisation.
When Conversations Turn to Suicide is a peer-led training program that equips participants with skills to navigate conversations about suicide without clinical intervention or risk management protocols. Rooted in the Alternatives to Suicide (Alt2Su) approach, the training emphasizes mutual connection, shared experience, and non-judgmental dialogue, allowing individuals to explore the meaning of suicidal thoughts in a safe and supportive space.
This training is designed for all mental health workforce disciplines who engage with people experiencing suicidality. Participants will learn how to facilitate conversations that:
Focus on connection and shared experience rather than intervention or risk assessment.
Move away from pathologising suicidal thoughts and instead explore their meaning.
Support autonomy, self-determination, and mutual aid.
Upon completion, participants will have a deeper understanding of peer-led support for suicidality and tools to apply these principles in their practice.
