    What's Altered Tides all about?

Altered Tides hosts creative conversations in a climate changing world, with this year’s theme 'Diving hidden worlds' connecting us with special guests from around Queensland working closely with reefs and marine environments.

This special evening takes place under the SWELL Pavilion by the ocean and features conversations and film vignettes with the diving, arts, science, and indigenous communities.

We will announce our exciting speakers and panelists soon, accompanied by fascinating short films to give us a full experience of these hidden worlds.

Altered Tides: Creative coastal recreation for climate changes is an event series established by Griffith’s Climate Action Beacon and in partnership with Gecko Environment Council and SWELL Sculpture Festival. In 2024 the Altered Tides team are collaborating with the Social Science Community for the Great Barrier Reef, Divers for Climate, and filmmaker Salvador Cantellano. This year’s Altered Tides event is also the opening evening for the Social Science Community for the GBR Symposium with the theme in 2024: Reimagining Reef Futures: stories of creativity, cooperation, and courage.

Altered Tides brings together Indigenous knowledge, climate and coastal sciences, beach cultures and the arts to support people and their communities in responding to the key theme of climate changes and our coastal way of life.
