ChessPalace Amateur Tournament

ChessPalace, an Orange County chess club, is hosting a monthly Amateur chess tournament at SteelCraft Garden Grove.

Open to players of all ages, who would like to play chess competitively, this event is a great way to start playing over the board in a casual atmosphere.

Players will be allocated to a group (based on grade, age, and/or skill levels from platforms such as online chess and US Chess ratings) and they will play assigned opponents in their group. 

Games will NOT be rated. Players are expected to play with tournament etiquette and sportsmanship. 

Rules to be familiar with:

1. using a chess clock

2. touch move/touch capture rules

3. how to report scores

4. claims for draws 

5. stalemate vs checkmate positions

Sign in by 11:30 am and games starts 12:00 pm.

Chess boards and pieces will be available for use. If you would like to bring your own, you’re welcome to bring them. If you have a clock, please bring it.

Medals will be awarded for players who win more than half of their assigned games.

Entry Fee: $32+Humanitix fee ($45 onsite)
