Studio Fundamentals – VET Music Teacher Professional Learning Day

Join ReadCloudVET and SAE University College Brisbane for a hands-on Professional Learning Day designed specifically for VET Music teachers.

This immersive studio experience will take you from the fundamentals of a professional recording environment through to actually working in the studio.

The morning will explore studio layout, acoustics, microphones, DI boxes, signal flow, DAW workflows, routing, monitoring and session preparation, giving teachers practical knowledge and confidence to support studio-based learning.

The afternoon puts those skills into practice. Working in small groups, teachers will rotate between performer and assistant engineer roles, getting hands-on with recording, gain structure, headphone mixes, patching, overdubbing, editing and mixing as they work towards a final recorded track.

It’s an opportunity to experience the real-world recording studio environment, build practical skills, collaborate with fellow VET Music teachers and take new ideas directly back into the classroom.

Morning tea and lunch are provided.

All attendees will receive a Professional Learning Certificate of Attendance.

Relevant Units of Competency Include:

CUASOU211 Develop basic audio skills and knowledge

CUASOU213 Assist with sound recordings

CUASOU317 Record and mix basic music demos

CUASOU321 Mix music in studio environments
