Event description
Join NCJWA and NIF Australia for aan interactive workshop empowering women’s voices in our community. We will have the opportunity to learn with leading American and Israeli voices on a variety of topics to help women feel more confident sharing their opinions whether in writing, on a community board or around the Shabbat dinner table.
No prerequisites required but you are encouraged to come with questions and an open mind.
$18 per session or free for under 25s/low income

WHY AND HOW WE TELL STORIES OF SOCIAL CHANGE: AN ACTIVIST’S TOOLBOX
with Hamutal Gouri from the Kiverstein Institute
We will discuss why storytelling is central to social change efforts and explore diverse storytelling tools - from appreciative inquiry, to basic storytelling templates and visions stands". We will have a chance to practice in small groups and explore the tools that best work for us.
Hamutal Gouri is Founding Director of Impact Storytelling: consulting, training, and storytelling for social change. Hamutal is a cultural critic, lecturer, consultant, and storyteller for social change. Hamutal has expertise in organisational, program, resource, and leadership development; gender audits and mainstreaming; diversity, inclusion, and intersectional approach to social transformation.
Hamutal served as Executive Director of the Dafna Fund, Israel’s first and only feminist fund. She continues to serve as a consultant to foundations as an expert on funding with a gender lens. Hamutal is a senior fellow at the Kiverstein Institute.
She teaches a course on Gender, Leadership and Action in Civil Society Organizations at the Rothberg School for Overseas Students at the Hebrew University. Gouri holds a BA in English Literature and Inter-disciplinary Studies, and an MA (Cum Laude) in Cultural Studies from the Hebrew University.
