An Eldest Daughters’ Guide to Surviving the Holidays

Join us on 11/7 for an Eldest Daughter’s gathering before the holiday season.

The holiday season can both be a time of great joy and connection, but also immense stress and responsibility, especially for those who are eldest daughters in their family. As such, Yellow Chair Collective therapist Enrika Manalo and yoga therapist Laurie Hang are hosting a space for eldest daughters to gather and build community, unwrapping the pressures that the holiday season can bring.

In this virtual gathering, we will be learning about how stress can show up in our bodies, and what we can do to process and release somatic tension through guided exercises.

***While this workshop begins at 3pm PT / 5pm CT / 6pm ET, we will be opening up the Zoom space 15 minutes before, for anyone who would like to set intentions and ease into the space together.

This workshop is a healing space for eldest daughters who have long carried the weight of responsibility, care, and quiet resilience. As the ones often expected to “hold it together,” eldest daughters especially in immigrant and multicultural families tend to grow up too fast, putting their own needs aside in order to support others.

Laurie Hang Hutter, C-IAYT, E-RYT 500 is a certified yoga therapist, educator, and nonprofit founder based in Los Angeles. As the eldest daughter of Chinese-origin, Vietnamese boat refugees, she built her Presence methodology from her own lineage, teaching nervous system regulation as a way to unlearn inherited patterns of overfunctioning and self-erasure.

Enrika Manalo, MSW, is a therapist at Yellow Chair Collective, a multicultural psychotherapy practice based in Los Angeles, CA.
