Event description

You’re Invited: The Sound of the Genuine, A Healing Sounds Experience

In a world that’s louder than ever, it’s become harder to hear what’s most real - the quiet truth of our own authentic voice.

We live in an age of constant noise: scrolling, swiping, reacting. But beneath the distractions, there’s something deeper waiting to be heard. When we slow down and truly listen - to ourselves and to each other - something powerful happens. We reconnect. We remember. We heal.

The Sound of the Genuine is a gathering to drop beneath the noise and remember who we are through sound, presence, and community.

Our bodies are wired for connection and attunement. When one person expresses raw, genuine emotion, it awakens something in all of us; not metaphorically, but biologically. We feel each other. This is how we begin to remember what’s real, and this is the intention for this gathering.

As visionary leader Howard Thurman once said, the world needs more people who are in touch with the sound of the genuine in themselves, and in each other.

This is more than just a sound healing event. It’s a return to truth. A place to be witnessed, to witness, and to reclaim the medicine of shared humanity.

Come as you are. Your presence, your voice, and your heart are welcome here.

If this touches something genuine in you, share this invitation widely. Invite others to join in. Help awaken this innate knowing in others. Humanity is longing for this reclamation of The Sound Of the Genuine.

This special event includes:

✨ An opening ceremony to set sacred space and protection, followed by an introduction to the event's theme and an energy update on current planetary influences and how we can navigate these with more ease.

✨ A deeply restorative group sound bath featuring crystal and metal singing bowls, tuning forks, medicine drum, voice and other instruments.

✨ A unique opportunity to both give and receive healing through collective toning, where each voice becomes medicine, and those taking turns in the centre receive a direct transmission of love, healing and resonance from the whole group.

✨ Individual support from a team of dedicated healing "angels" in human form, providing gentle touch, aroma and sonic alchemy

✨ Each participant will have a dedicated "bed" set up for them with a cushion, blanket and yoga mat so you can travel light and receive.

✨ A 20% discount on any personal healing sessions or frequency-based treatments booked separately with host, Liz Millar

Please Bring anything else that will create more comfort for you, such as:

Thank you to my dear friend Fred Burks, of PEERS and WanttoKnow.info for introducing me to this piece of writing by Howard Thurman, which so perfectly crystallised the intentions held for this latest gathering and arrived to my inbox at the same time this invitation was being written. I encourage you to read the text below. - Liz

The breathtaking words of visionary theologian and civil rights leader Howard Thurman’s 1980 sermon at Spelman College, reminds us about what it means to truly listen to ourselves and each other beneath all the societal noise and the dehumanizing, distorted narratives dominating our media systems.

"There is in you something that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in yourself. Nobody like you has ever been born and no one like you will ever be born again - you are the only one.

There is something in you that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in other people. And if you can't hear it, then you are reduced by that much. If I were to ask you what is the thing that you desire most in life, you would say ... things that I thought you ought to think that you should say. But I think that if you were stripped to whatever there is in you that is literal and irreducible, and you tried to answer that question, the answer may be something like this:

I want to feel that I am thoroughly and completely understood so that now and then I can take my guard down and look out around me and not feel that I will be destroyed with my defenses down. I want to feel completely vulnerable, completely naked, completely exposed and absolutely secure. That I can run the risk of radical exposure and know that the eye that beholds my vulnerability will not step on me.

Now if I hear the sound of the genuine in me, and you hear the sound of the genuine in you, it is possible then for me to go down in me, and come up in you. So that when I look at myself through your eyes, having made that pilgrimage, I see in me what you see in me. And the wall that separates and divides will disappear. And we will become one because the sound of the genuine makes the same music."
