An Evening with Deborah Humble - Elgar's Sea Pictures
Event description
Following the stunning success of NYO Rising of the Ashes for the New Annual Festival, Newcastle Youth Orchestra is presenting its final concert for 2024, featuring international mezzo-soprano Deborah Humble in Sir Edward Elgar's iconic work, Sea Pictures. Well-known to Newcastle audiences, Deborah will perform this amazing work by Elgar on Saturday 30th, November, in the Harold Lobb Concert Hall.Â
Last year, Deborah performed with NYO in their 10th Anniversary Celebration, which was followed by Deborah's wish to perform again with the orchestra. Deborah and Dr Ian Cook, the Artistic Director, agreed that Elgar's Sea Pictures would be a fabulous choice. Â
In addition, the program will feature other works by English composers, such as Doreen Carwithen in her Suffolk Suite, along with the Ancient Airs and Dances Suite No. 2 of Respighi. Newcastle Youth Orchestra will be joined by NYO Kids and NYO Junior Strings, performing more English repertoire.
This will be a great concert to conclude the year's concert activities by celebrating Arnold Schonberg's 150th anniversary and new works by local composer Jacob Cummins. Please join us on November 30th in the Harold Lobb Concert Hall.
