Event description

Join us for a delightful evening with Li Chen, creator of Detective Beans. Li will share her creative journey, from the origins of Detective Beans as a webcomic to its transformation into a published graphic novel, offering insights into her storytelling process along the way.

6pm arrivals for 6:30pm start.

Free to attend, but RSVP essential.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Detective Beans is back to solve all the mysteries that you need solved, and even the ones you don’t need solved. He’s that good.

In between playing Scrabble, having sleepovers and trips to the beach, there’s always time for crime solving. Whether it’s who ate Mum’s donuts, who has lost their handbag in the park, which pigeon stole King Chip, or even a burgled diamond ring, Beans is ready for anything. He’s so ready that he’s even starting a detective school – if he can find any students . . .

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Li Chen was born in Beijing, China, and moved to New Zealand when she was five (with her parents, not as a solo child explorer, I don't think that's allowed). She's always loved drawing and has been working as a full-time comic artist since 2012. Detective Beans and the Case of the Missing Hat is her first graphic novel. When she's not drawing, Li likes to hang out with her cats or go on really long walks. Oh, and she drinks a LOT of tea.
