Event description

John Maynard is a Worimi man and Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Newcastle. He is a former Deputy Chairperson of the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies and a member of committees relating to history, Indigenous research and knowledge, and Indigenous higher education. His research has examined the rise of early Aboriginal political activism, and he is credited with unearthing the links between early African-American and Aboriginal politics. His current comparative study on Native American and Aboriginal issues surrounding land, politics and children during the early 1900s is gaining global attention. He has worked with and within many urban, rural, and remote Aboriginal communities.

Quick consultation about NSAUS activities: There will be time afterwards to discuss the kinds of activities you'd like NSAUS to initiate and how you might like to be involved. You will also have an opportunity to complete a short survey that will help us gather everyone's ideas.
