A Night With Sam Herzog - Q&A Director Screening

Vermont Playhouse presents A Night With Sam Herzog.

Join us for two intimate, offbeat films exploring the turbulence of the creative process, humour, and heartbreak, followed by a 30-minute Q&A with director and producer Sam Herzog.

The Song Doc

Documentary | Comedy | Experimental

A DIY musical documentary built around a simple challenge: Sam must write five original songs before his girlfriend returns from holiday.

Inspired by Bo Burnham’s Inside, The Song Doc blends original music, self-shot MiniDV footage and experimental video into a funny and chaotic portrait of one man trying to stay creative during COVID-19.

Duration: 44 minutes

No Retrograding

Documentary | Comedy | Experimental

Following heartbreak, Sam grapples with isolation and despondency in this experimental pastiche of docu-reality comedy, video diary, and amateur travel footage from China.

Created as a way to develop Herzog’s editing practice in DaVinci Resolve, the project became an exploration of narrative form, blending elements of docu-reality comedy, personal video diary, and amateur travel footage.

Duration: 23 minutes
