An Intimate Elwood soiree, with Miriam Lieberman and Zvi Belling
Event description
“Her songs travel from the shores of folk and world to somewhere distinctly her own — think Joni Mitchell meets Paul Simon.” — The Guardian
“Richly textured, beautifully melodic and simply brilliant.” — The Canberra Times
Award-winning singer-songwriter Miriam Lieberman blends her soulful voice, guitar and kora – the 21-string West African harp – into songs that bridge cultures and continents. Her music speaks of connection, transformation and the beauty of the natural world, carried by a sound both timeless and uplifting.
Joining her is acclaimed Melbourne bassist Zvi Belling (ZEDSIX) – composer, producer and bandleader of The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra and ZEDSIX. Originally from Southern Africa, Zvi has performed with Gregory Porter, Hugh Masekela, Femi Kuti, Ebo Taylor, Chet Faker, Emma Donovan and Sampa the Great.
Together they create a rich, cross-cultural tapestry of folk, world and jazz – full of heart, rhythm and soul.
