This 2-day workshop is designed for qualified remedial massage therapists and myotherapists, providing an introductory understanding of breast cancer recovery and rehabilitation. It will cover essential theory, including how breast cancer forms, the various types, diagnostic methods, and common treatments such as surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Participants will develop a foundational knowledge of the disease and its impact on patients.

We will also focus on practical techniques to support breast cancer recovery. While this workshop equips therapists with valuable tools for working with breast cancer patients, it serves as an introduction to this specialised field. Therapists are encouraged to seek further training to deepen their skills and understanding if they wish to work extensively with cancer patients. 

Outcomes:
By attending this webinar, participants will:
- Gain a foundational knowledge of breast cancer, including how it forms, its types, and common treatment methods (surgery, chemotherapy, radiation).
- Recognise how different treatments affect the body and the specific challenges patients face during recovery.
- Learn safe and gentle hands-on techniques to manage side effects of treatment.
- Learn the role of massage therapy as part of an integrative care plan for breast cancer patients.  

Presenter: Amy Tyler

Amy Tyler is a remedial massage therapist who specialises in working with people who have had a cancer diagnosis. She creates connection for the mind and body through integrating Oncology, Scar and Lymphoedema Massage to bring completely new levels of freedom and confidence to a patients life. With 25+ years experience and training, she has become known in the industry for her unique skill set and has trained many other therapists to specialise in oncology massage. She runs her private clinic in Waitara in the north of Sydney and at the Sydney Adventist Hospital Cancer Support Centre, and was awarded the ATMS Natural Medicine Awards “Practitioner of the Year 2020”. Amy is the founder and CEO of Institute of Oncology Massage, a Society for Oncology Massage endorsed training organisation that empowers Remedial Massage Therapists and Myotherapists to confidently and competently adapt their skills when working with anyone who has had a cancer diagnosis.
