An Introduction to Funding Pathways for First Nations Businesses

Are you in business and looking for funding to grow?

Businesses need the right funding at the right time, but if you haven’t done it before, it can be difficult to know what options are out there and which ones are right for your business and the stage you’re at.

Founders can spend a lot of time looking for the wrong funding in the wrong places or navigating lengthy application and due diligence processes. This can take valuable time away from actually running and growing your business.

If you’re new to business, or doing something more community or impact focused than a typical startup, the funding landscape can sometimes feel like an impenetrable maze.

This one hour session is a fast paced introduction to funding options and opportunities for First Nations businesses.

We’ll introduce the different types of funding available, the pros and cons of different pathways, and what funders and investors may be looking for. We’ll also explore common funding and deal structures, where crowdfunding fits in, and how to start thinking about the right kind of funding for your business.

The session is part of the IndigiPitch program https://www.firstinnovators.org/indigipitch and provides a taste of what the broader program will explore.

From here, businesses can apply if they wish to join the next stage of IndigiPitch program, which provides more in depth workshops, coaching and mentoring to help you understand your options, strengthen your funding readiness and identify the right funding pathway for your business. This commences on the 18th of November.

In Stage 2, we will work closely with up to eight businesses through more intensive coaching and support to develop their funding offer, campaign and pitch, connect them with funding opportunities, and prepare them to showcase their business at the IndigiPitch Pitch Night in April 2027.

A link will be provided to all those who sign up on the night.

Please share this with any one you think would also benefit of joining us on the night.
