Event description

This workshop is being delivered in collaboration with Australian BioCommons and is available to all Australian university HDR students and staff, and all Australian researchers.

This hands-on practical workshop is an introduction to next generation sequencing technologies and how they work, along with training in common bioinformatics workflows, standardised file types, quality control and the Galaxy Australia bioinformatics platform.  This workshop runs over two mornings from 9:00-1:30pm (AEST) 18th-19th June, 2025.

FAQs

What should I bring into the event?

This is an online workshop, so you will need to provide your own computer and have access to a reliable internet connection sufficient for video conferencing. A second monitor is highly recommended.

What prior experience do I need?

None - the workshop gives a full introduction to both next-generation sequencing technologies and the Galaxy bioinformatics platform

Who should attend?

The workshop is designed for biologists, other life scientists, and computer scientists planning to work with next-generation sequencing data

What's the cancellation policy?

Cancellations are accepted up to three working days before the start of the workshop. If you are a using a QCIF member ticket and do not join on the day without having cancelled beforehand, you may be blocked from attending any future QCIF training workshops.
