An Introduction to Trauma Informed Care

The Aged Care Diversity Framework and the Specialisation Verification Framework have both highlighted that aged care services often provide care and support to older people who have experienced trauma in their lives. Increasingly, providers are being encouraged to ensure that all workers understand and can apply the principles of trauma informed care in their work with consumers. The practice aim is to provide services that are accessible and appropriate to consumers who have experienced trauma. This introductory workshop consists of a two-hour session that introduces the principles of trauma informed care and explore practical techniques in direct work with older consumers, particularly people from diverse backgrounds.
