The webinar will be hosted live on September 4th 2026, with recording available post-event. Assessment template and guidelines will also be circulated to those registered, prior to the event.

Purpose

To share assessment-focused knowledge, process, guidelines and templates with OTSi members and in-scope, practicing occupational therapists, aiming to build capacity to consistently and professionally assess function and support needs, for people with invisible disability, including psychosocial disability, and autism.

Context

Over the past year, NDIS reform has accelerated. Legislation changes, including the recent 2026 NDIS legislation changes, These changes have implications for how we work, and plan, with NDIS participants. Occupational Therapy Functional Capacity and Support Needs Assessments are likely to hold a strong role, until new assessment frameworks are in place. There has never been a more important time to assess and document functional capacity and disability-related support needs accurately and concisely, for people with invisible disability including psychosocial disability and autism - regardless of the stage of their NDIS journey.

Content - About the webinar and toolkit

This webinar, and accompanying guideline and resource, will equip occupational therapists working with these cohorts to:

  • Understand the NDIS legislation and NDIS reform landscape and particular implications for people with invisible disability, including psychosocial disability and autism.

  • Prepare functional capacity assessment reports to accompany NDIS applications

  • Prepare functional capacity assessment reports to address eligibility re-assessment notifications.

  • Compile functional assessments and support needs assessments for plan reassessments.

  • Compile broader documentation and supporting evidence to accompany the above assessments.
