Meet Shenzo Gregorio (QLD) - 2023 Golden Fiddle "Best Fiddler" Awarded - at home in Rio, Carnegie Hall or a Hot Club in Paris His dance from Gypsy Guitar to Violin to Chin Cello & Bass is quite the jaw drop - let alone a charming soul! Also touring with circus shows through to the Four Play Quartet. Found out recently he's also quite nuts on piano - Lookout!!
Marilla Homes (UK) returning annually, had everyone pin drop focused last January from Stories & Folk songs onward all the way to Opera - on occasion! She bring news of the English shores and has starred as well with her photography within our Supper Club Almanac Book as well !
New Banjo man is Paul Henderson QLD whom Clermont discovered at the National Folk Fest Session Bar and they just kept on keeping on till the wee hours, It's now a coupla years later and we are very happy to bring him to Tamworth. Bluegrass and so much more ! He'll also link with our usual Banjo man (Paul Cooper SA) when he can make it as well!
All the way from WA we love to welcome Fiddler Jude Iddison, who has been collaborating throughout the last years with Shenzo - we are very keen to hear the results.
Liz Frencham (Double Bass & silken Voice) has a vibrant history across the Folk & Bluegrass realm as well as a deft Jazz flair should the need arise !
Nicholas (Niq) Reefman QLD brings his sublime Trumpet, Accordion, assorted wares & songs to all in a most beloved way. He's had a very high hit rate on our youtubes and is usually the last to let go of the night! Leading us from Brazil to outer space it seems at times we await his new intrigue!
Brookie Gillett NSW (Theatre Star!) - first joining the Supper Club 2007 after many years in the Theatre already! Clermont has treasured her unique voice and dedication to the team with heart searching and topical originals through to an epic Joni Mitchell medley and this time we seek to include her Musical Theatre elements from Les Mis to who knows, culminating on our Cabaret Friday (note 9pm start just that day).
Robbie Long (Newcastle) met Clermont in the group The Lawnmowers (at the "Cutting Hedge" of Bluegrass ! Sorry, had to put that in :-) touring Australia's largest Acoustic Festivals - from WA's Fairbridge to VIC's Pt Fairy & QLD's Woodford Folk Festival PLUS our biggest Bluegrass Fest MountainGrass @ Harrietville VIC at the time. As a Bluegrass Guitar Champion as well as session muso forever in Newcastle including Drums to Lap Steel. Another wonderful chameleon player all week at The AC Supper Club swapping between drums & guitars!
We also featuring the deft & playful hands of Garry Steel NSW (Keyboards & Accordion) - one of the most adventurous musical minds at the Supper Club. He'll only be absent on the Tue, otherwise a grand contributor through this last decade though first jamming with Clermont back in the early 80s with The Hired Hands. Meanwhile many hundreds of albums have passed through his hands since then with a fine handful produced by Clermont as well. He'll duck away on the Tue but in for the rest.
PLUS very Special Guests
The astonishing Goldheist (Hester Fraser) and Anthony Walmsley (Tamworth Jazz Night hosts), are set to rejoin us (when they can !). Clermont has variously toured with Goldheist across many states and loves the inter-reaction with Anthony's guitaring across all kinds of styles. Songwriting like an Australian Kate Bush to Elton John blend through to The Corrs!
Pete Fidler VIC shares his Dobro/ Mandolin/ Slide/ Psychedelic to Bluegrass wizardry
Christian Marsh - arriving after adding to the Thredboe Blues Fest - likely by Tue or Wed, Christian has made the harmonica his life’s work. A never-ending quest for perfection. He has played every idiom, from country and blues to jazz and classical. Seeing him perform opens minds to the versatility of the harmonica. His trademark is a particularly pure and sweet tone, which he weaves through even the simplest of melodies to create lively complexity. He was part of a national tour with the hit stage musical “Big River”. In this show, Christian not only featured and soloed as part of the pit orchestra, but also played several character roles on stage. In 2003, Christian won the award for best “Instrumental” at the 1233 ABC Newcastle Music Awards for his tune entitled “Five Islands”. He was also a nomination for the award in the jazz category in 2003, 2004 and 2005. He has won “Gold Harmonica Awards” on three occasions at Hohner’s National Harmonica Championships in Tamworth!
