Launching Wild Frontier the new album from Andy Ophee at The Servo on Sat 3 August.
Andy has gathered many of his friends to help out on the night, to get you grooving and moving.
Kicking off with Shocking Brown spinning vinyl on the tuctuc disco machine from 4pm making the
most of that glorious Port Kembla sunset.
Femme Fatales will bringing their riotous feminist honk to the yard as the sun goes down.
Andy will then launch his new album Wild Frontier with his backing band Overnight Lows.
The night will finish with the elated middle eastern grooves of The Groove for your dancing
pleasure.
Balinese Spice Magic will be providing their delicious food for the soul.
Wild Frontier is Andy’s solo album ,featuring 10 storytelling songs that traverse from Alt Country to
Folk and Rock. The Wild Frontier is looking at the uncertainty of the future while being guided by
the past. With songs about Coal miners, Bankrobbers, car thieves, outcasts, revolutionaries, and
reimagining of a 100 year old song.
Andy will be joined on the night by his band The Overnight Lows, featuring Rob Laurie on Keys
and accordion, Tim Ritchie on Bass ,John Bonner on Lead guitar and Sue Bonner on drums, with
many special guests on the night.
Andy has had a long career in music stretching back to the 70’s with the Towoomba punk band
Brian, but more recently he has played in altcountry The Band That Couldn’t Plough Straight and
the reggae band The Leisure Coasters.
The Femme Fatales are a femme-focused musical troupe from the streets of Wollongong. They
HONK and hail the wrongdoing with an unceremonious funeral flourish to lay it to rest, and sing
up a better world. Formed by Mel Wishart, this band of women play brass, percussion, strings
and sing up a riotous storm where ever they perform.
The Groove features Sako Dermenjian on guitar and Damien Stirling on percussion and vocals.
The Groove plays an energised world music traversing from Middle Eastern grooves to African
rhythms. And they always get the dance floor pumping. Also featuring Noah Hampson on
saxophone, Yani Socratous on drums and Drew Peard on bass,
Shockin Brown are DJs Sam and Trent. They love to share the love and are well known for their
notorious Colebiza parties.
