Animal Portraiture with Judith Robichaud

This class will teach you how to capture the likeness, structure, and personality of pets and wildlife using any medium. Judith will cover the basics of drawing and transferring from the reference, underpainting, color mixing and fur-rendering. Although Judith primarily works in graphite and oils, these techniques can be applied to your preferred medium.

Bring at least 2 printed in color reference photos of the animal you would like to paint

Pencils, eraser, ruler if you have one and a drawing pad (9x12 is a good size)

Your preferred medium – oils, acrylics, watercolors, pencils, a palette, brushes, paper towels, jar for mediums or water

8x10 panels for oils and acrylics, watercolor paper for watercolors/gouache

Judith Robichaud, a fine artist and HPAA member, has shown her work at several art fairs and galleries in Boston and New York. Judith claims her professional artist life started when she began renting a studio at the Menino Art Center in 2011. She has since maintained a consistent studio practice while juggling the art fair scene, freelancing and volunteering for Roslindale Open Studios.
