Author Talk: Anne Tiernan - ‘Somewhere in the chasm between’
Event description
Fresh off her appearance at the Tauranga Arts Festival, we are so thrilled to be welcoming international bestselling author Anne Tiernan to our library!
Anne Tiernan was born in Zambia, raised in Ireland, and has been based in Tauranga for the past twenty years. She is the author of The Good Mistress and The Last Days of Joy, novels that explore themes pertinent to midlife such as motherhood, marriage, mental health, and the lingering presence of the past. Both books also explore that particular sense of being an outsider which comes with being an immigrant. ‘Of two homes and yet none’ as one of her characters describes it.
Please come along to hear her discuss her origins as a writer, her path to becoming a published author in her forties, the joys of writing complex women, why middle age is such a rich source of inspiration, and how moving from Ireland to New Zealand has impacted her life and work.
Free. Light refreshments provided.
