Event description

This workshop provides an opportunity for parents and children of the region who are concerned about the impacts of climate change to connect and feel supported in strengthening community resilience. Combining elements of environmental education and creative activities, families will delve into resilience techniques together which develop their social and emotional resilience skills. With focus on drought and connecting communities in a fun and engaging way, Annie’s workshop will support both kids and adults to feel empowered to strengthen their individual and community resilience. This workshop will be interactive, creative and engaging, families will be encouraged to share and connect with one another and act as an excellent opportunity to meet like minded people in this interest area.

Suitable for children and teenagers 8 - 18 years old. Parents/guardians are highly encouraged to attend.

Please note: participants should expect to engage in open and honest conversations about climate change and come ready to shift ideas into action. 

What's covered in the workshop:

How creativity can support climate resilience 
Creative exploration of our relationship to climate change disasters  
Community resilience techniques - Social connections to enhance disaster resilience 
Learning about drought in local region and prevention, mitigation, adaption 
Interactive clay play and water play activities

  • A 1.5 hour workshop lead by Annie Brien, Climate Resilience Practitioner
  • Full access to workshop module content from all speakers across the series (available post workshop series)
  • Farm board snacks and refreshments 
  • All required learning materials

    Workshop Facilitator:

    Annie Brien is a climate resilience practitioner specialising in creative community resilience - that is how we can support communities to strengthen community bonds, increase creative problem solving skills and gain skills to reduce the impacts of climate changing. After writing her thesis on the role of participatory art in supporting the resilience of communities pre and post disaster, Annie has been working in bushfire recovery throughout Victoria, supporting communities in their social and emotional resilience.

    **Please note this workshop is aimed at youth members of the community who are 8 - 18 years old.
