Setting National Norms: Technology Use in Early Childhood Online Symposium

How can we better support families to make informed decisions about technology from the earliest stages of a child’s life?

Setting National Norms: Technology Use in Early Childhood Online Symposium brings together researchers and professionals from health, psychology, education and child development to consider an increasingly important question: what should appropriate technology use look like in the early years?

Across two extended lunchtime sessions, the symposium will examine the evidence, professional experience and practical challenges that shape how families and professionals approach technology use in early childhood. The discussion will go beyond screen time alone, looking at the broader context in which habits develop, advice is given, and decisions are made.

During the concluding workshop, attendees move from listening to contributing. Panellists will join attendees in small online breakout rooms focused on key learnings from the previous sessions. Attendees will share thoughts and reactions with colleagues from similar spheres, collaborate and be energised to work together to progress Australia's norms around technology in early childhood.

"At the 4th AGASA symposium, we will reach the whole of Australia. We have brought together the top minds and influencers in this field, and I look forward to pressing them with challenging questions."
