Supporting the Younger Generation: Our Kids Are the Future Workforce
How can we better support young people to access, enter and sustain meaningful employment?
The next generation represents the future of our workforce. Yet many young people face barriers that can make the transition into employment challenging, from mental health difficulties and neurodiversity to health conditions, limited opportunities and gaps in support.
The VRA 2027 Conference will explore how we can work together to address these challenges, strengthen pathways into employment and create better opportunities for young people to build sustainable working lives.
What can you expect?
Bringing together perspectives from vocational rehabilitation, health, education, youth services, employers and other relevant sectors, the conference will explore the challenges facing young people and consider how collaborative, person-centred support can make a meaningful difference.
The programme is being developed to include:
Policy and practice insights – exploring the wider landscape of youth employment, inactivity and access to support.
Mental health and neurodiversity – considering the barriers young people may encounter and the support that can help them thrive.
Lived experience and real-world perspectives – bringing the challenges and aspirations of young people into the conversation.
Cross-sector collaboration – examining how services, employers and vocational rehabilitation professionals can work together more effectively.
Practical learning and discussion – identifying approaches that can help young people move towards meaningful, sustainable employment.
Why attend?
Whether you work in vocational rehabilitation, healthcare, education, employment support, youth services or organisational leadership, this conference will provide an opportunity to reflect on current practice, exchange ideas and explore how we can collectively improve outcomes for the next generation.
Because supporting young people into work is not the responsibility of one service or sector. It requires a joined-up approach that recognises individual needs, removes barriers and creates opportunities for lasting participation in the workforce.
