ANTI - STATIC
Description
ANTI-STATIC — A Retreat Into Quiet
Sunday 18th October 15:00pm - 19:00pm
£55.
What happens when we put down our phones, step away from the noise and give ourselves a little more space to simply be?
ANTI-STATIC is a day to unplug from the constant hum of everyday life and reconnect with ourselves, our surroundings and the quieter parts of our experience. The day will unfold gently, with periods of quiet woven throughout — giving you the chance to move, rest, reflect and notice what happens when we don't have to fill every moment with noise.
We'll begin with a grounding yoga flow with Eilidh, warming the body and settling into the day.
Ruth will then guide a slower practice of restorative, longer-held poses, alongside therapy-based writing prompts to encourage reflection and curiosity.
We'll share a simple supper together before settling into a sound bath with Sharlyn, allowing sound, stillness and rest to bring the day towards evening.
We'll be able to head outside for a gentle explore of the local area — connecting with nature, the quiet and the dark.
ANTI-STATIC is for anyone who feels like they could use a little less noise and a little more space. You don't need to identify as a “yoga person” or have any experience with meditation or retreats — just come as you are.
FAQs
- Do I have to be silent for the whole day?
No. The day will include periods of quiet and silence, but this isn't a silent retreat. There will be opportunities to chat, connect and share food together. The quiet is simply an invitation to step away from the usual noise and give yourself some space.
- What if I find silence uncomfortable?
That's completely okay. There is no right or wrong way to experience the day. You won't be expected to sit in silence for hours, and you can move, journal, rest or simply be. We'll gently guide you through each part of the day.
- Do I need to have experience with yoga?
Not at all. The practices will be accessible and adaptable, and you don't need any previous yoga experience.
- What should I bring?
Bring comfortable clothes for yoga and moving around, warm layers, a water bottle and anything you might need to feel comfortable throughout the day. You'll also want shoes and outdoor clothing for our dusk walk.
ALL MATS AND EQUIPMENT IS PROVIDED.
- What is the writing part like?
Ruth will offer some gentle, therapy-informed writing prompts after the restorative poses. There's no expectation to share what you write, and you don't need to consider yourself someone who “journals”.
Ruth is a licensed psychotherapist, so if anything comes up throughout the day, just let her know.
- Is ANTI-STATIC suitable if I have accessibility needs?
The Yoga Barn does have stairs up to the movement studio area. If this affects you please get in touch and we will adjust things so you can take part.
