Antibiotic Resistance in Agroenvironments - a short talk by Dr Eddie Cytryn, Volcani Institute
Event description
Speaker: Dr Eddie Cytryn, Volcani Institute - Agricultural Research Organization of Israel.
Seminar Title: Antibiotic Resistance in Agroenvironments
Moderator: Dr Yoni Nazarathy, University of Queensland
Dr Eddie Cytryn runs the Cytryn lab at the Volcani Insitute. At the Cytryn lab, the team explores and exploits microbes in agroecosystems. They investigate "who is there", "what they are doing", and "how they are doing it" (key questions in microbial ecology and environmental microbiology) by targeting single microbes and complex communities using cultivation, and advanced "culture-independent" molecular and bioinformatic methods. Research currently focuses on understanding the dynamics and mitigating the spread of microbial pathogens and antimicrobial resistance in agroecosystems, and on exploiting microbes to combat plant and animal disease.
