Antisemitism in the Wake of October 7th: Understanding and Response
Event description
The events of October 7th, 2023, mark a harrowing day in the history of Israel and the global Jewish community; not only devastating lives and communities but also precipitating a significant rise in antisemitism worldwide, including in Australia. As we grapple with the aftermath and seek pathways forward, engaging in informed and constructive discussions on the implications and responses to this upsurge in hate is crucial.
Australian Jewish Funders (AJF) and Jewish Community Council of WA (JCCWA) are honoured to host a panel discussion, bringing experts and community leaders together to explore the dimensions of antisemitism post-October 7th. This timely conversation aims to shed light on the current landscape of antisemitism in Australia, its impact on our communities, and strategies for countering hate and fostering resilience.
 Â
Panelists:
- Daniel Aghion KC, President of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ), will share insights from the forefront of advocacy and response efforts within the Australian Jewish community.
- Dr. Josh Roose, political sociologist with expertise in political and religious extremism, will offer an academic analysis of the rise in antisemitism and its underpinnings.
Moderated by:Â Tracie Olcha, CEO, Australian Jewish Funders
 Â
Join us for this critical conversation as we seek to understand the broader impacts of recent events and explore how communities can come together to address the challenges of antisemitism with solidarity and strength.
