This is Folk Noir: European melodies, shrouded in mystery, that tell stories, lost and found. Songs in the woods are familiar and edgy, where the night breathes life and the days are bright and wild.
About the Key Artists
Anna Simic is a Melbourne based, Interdisciplinary Artist. Her background includes an archive of original collaborative projects, with an emphasis on the universal power to engage and bring people together, through music, story telling and song. Simic engages a broad and diverse audience with her conceptual music performance duo: Anushka in the Woods
Accompanied by Dave Evans, Melbourne based musician, together they co-write original music. Drawing inspiration from Eastern Europen Folklore, Simic and Evans deliver a transformative live music experience, to invite their audience on a journey into a world of magic realism. Full of nostalgia and vivid imagery, the dynamic atmosphere shifts between edgy 'Folk Noir' and playful reinvented fairy tales, bold and absurd.

Dave Evans is a founding member of Melbourne's own iconic 'The Band Who Knew Too Much'. Touring Australia and Europe extensively over the arc of his diverse career, his collaborative projects have stretched nationally and internationally. Performance highlights include, A live music score composition to accompany the nostalgic silent film: 'The Sentimental Bloke'
Evans regularly warms the hearts of local audiences across Melbourne, performing in Theatres, venues and festivals. Evan's Accordion took him to the National Theatre in the UK with the Australian production of 'Warhorse'. He has composed and performed original scores for La Mama Court House shows; 'The Three Sisters' and Death at Intervals, to name a few. Evans has built a reputation as one of Melbourne's most versatile and accomplished musicians. Together Simic and Evans are a formidable duo that is Anushka in the Woods, who live and work in Melbourne.
