Event description
Join exhibition curator Emilia Galatis for a walk-through of Anya’s Puntawarri World! as she explores the five-year journey behind this exhibition, shaped by intergenerational knowledge and artistic collaboration.
Gain insight into the creative process of Martu artist Judith Anya Samson and her late grandmother, senior Martumili artist D. Samson. Discover how their shared practice continues to resonate through Judith’s exhibition, offering a deep connection to her personal history, cultural identity, and the cultural landscapes of Puntawarri.
Emilia will also speak about the vital role of remote art centres in both sustaining cultural traditions and providing economic benefits to artists and communities. She will explore the distinction between solo artistic practice and community-driven work, as well as the tensions that can arise between social and commercial obligations.
Light refreshments will be served.
