The ANZDATA 50th Anniversary Datathon is a full-day, interactive event bringing together up to clinicians, researchers, data scientists and analysts to tackle a real-world clinical question using ANZDATA data.

What to expect

The ANZDATA 50th Anniversary Datathon is a full-day, hands-on event where clinicians, researchers, statisticians, data scientists and trainees will work together in small, multidisciplinary teams to answer a real-world clinical question using ANZDATA data.

Working with de-identified datasets, teams will explore, analyse and visualise the data, applying statistical techniques to uncover insights and develop potential solutions to the clinical question. The emphasis is on collaboration, problem-solving and discovery.

Participants should have some experience in clinical research, statistics, data analysis, data science or a related field, but extensive expertise is not required. Teams will be intentionally created to bring together people with different backgrounds and skill sets, with facilitators and subject matter experts available throughout the day to support teams with everything from refining their research question to analysing data and developing code.

All datasets provided will be derived from ANZDATA data that has been curated and de-identified to protect privacy while retaining sufficient information for meaningful analysis. Access to the data will be subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the non-disclosure agreement signed by each participant.

Registration is priced by ticket type and can be purchased as just the Datathon alone or with the ANZDATA Anniversary Celebration Dinner (held on Thursday, February 18).
