Description

In Chinese Medicine the body is viewed as a continual flow of energy through channels, called meridians. The energy is created from what we eat, drink and breath-in by the 12 main organs. The energy is transported through the body via meridians and can be manipulated by stimulating different acupuncture points. Energy flow can be measured through the meridians, and modern scanning techniques have identified acupuncture points.

When the energy is blocked through a meridian, symptoms such as pain, nausea and breathlessness can develop. Each meridian has several acupuncture points that when stimulated will help to relief the blockage and therefore the symptoms.

There are many well-known acupuncture point combinations that can also help the patient experiencing anxiety, stress and low mood.

Patients at the end of their lives are generally deficient in energy. Therefore, it is important that we needle the points very gently or use acupressure on the acupuncture points instead when the patients are weak.

This acupuncture course will teach you how to treat the most common symptoms seen in end of life including; pain, nausea, fatigue, loss of appetite and breathlessness. The course will also teach how to treat psychological problems such as; anxiety, stress and low mood using both acupuncture and acupressure.

This course will also teach you how to engage the family in re-enforcing the treatments you have done by teaching them gentle acupressure techniques.

This course is designed for medical practitioners and registered nurses who are novice or experienced acupuncturists and are wanting to add these techniques to their kete.
