AoJO Improvisation Workshops: Beginner

The Aotearoa Jazz Orchestra is proud to present the first of several exciting workshops centred around an entry point into improvisation in the jazz genre. The workshops are primarily geared towards musicians with a classically-oriented background but open to everyone - whatever genre you happen to play.

Hosted by cross-genre performer Oscar Lavën, along with a jazz rhythm section of seasoned professional players, these highly accessible workshops promise to be entertaining and informative, with two levels available, beginner and advanced. This registration is for the beginner workshop.

Beginner: The Beginner workshop is for musicians of all ages who are new to jazz and improvisation, and wish to get started on their journey. This workshop will offer participants an entry point into jazz styles, group listening, and the foundational blocks of a musical ensemble. You will have the chance to play a with a great rhythm section in a relaxed welcoming setting.

Suitable for students, amateurs and anyone wanting to start their jazz journey.
