Aotearoa New Zealand for UNHCR - Spotlight on Sudan
Event description
SPOTLIGHT ON UNHCR's work in Sudan
Sudan is now the world’s largest displacement crisis. Since April 2023, violent conflict has forced 12 million people to flee their homes – including 4 million who have sought refuge in neighbouring countries.
The crisis has left millions without access to food, clean water or medicine. Women and girls are particularly at risk, with widespread reports of violence, while nearly three-quarters of Sudan’s health facilities are out of service.
UNHCR is on the ground in Sudan and across the region, working alongside partners to deliver lifesaving aid – from essential supplies and shelter to protection for the most vulnerable. But the scale of need far outstrips available resources.
In this special webinar, you’ll hear from Aotearoa New Zealand for UNHCR staff about the situation on the ground, UNHCR’s emergency response, and how New Zealanders can stand in solidarity with people forced to flee Sudan.
