African Professionals of Australia - Tasmania Chapter Official Launch and Networking Event
Join African Professionals of Australia to launch our Tasmania Chapter. Connect and network with other African Professionals and guests at the event in Tasmania. This event creates space for an honest but forward-looking conversation about these experiences and, more importantly, what we can do together to change them.
Our theme, “Breaking Barriers, Building Belonging: Thriving as an African Professional in Australia,” reflects our belief that professional success should involve more than obtaining a job. It should include having one’s skills recognised, being valued in the workplace, building trusted relationships, accessing opportunities for advancement and contributing confidently to the wider community.
About the event
The launch will bring together African professionals, entrepreneurs, students, community leaders, employers, government representatives, industry partners, professional organisations and allies from across Tasmania.

A major part of the program will be a panel discussion titled:
“Building Tasmania Together: How Can Tasmania Better Leverage the Skills of Its African Diaspora?”
The conversation will examine the contribution African professionals already make to Tasmania and how their knowledge, qualifications and experience can be better recognised and utilised.
Panellists will consider questions such as:
What skills and capabilities among African professionals are currently underused?
How can multicultural talent help Tasmania address workforce shortages?
Why do some highly qualified professionals remain unemployed, underemployed or employed outside their areas of expertise?
What helps African professionals establish lasting careers and remain in Tasmania?

About APA Tasmania
African Professionals of Australia exists to connect, develop and empower African professionals so they can advance their careers and businesses, strengthen their professional networks, assume leadership roles and contribute meaningfully to Australian society.
The Tasmania Chapter is being established to respond to the particular opportunities and challenges experienced by African professionals across the state. Its work will focus on professional development, networking and community, mentoring and emerging leadership, business development, partnerships, advocacy and greater professional visibility.
APA Tasmania aims to become a trusted bridge between African professional talent and the employers, industries, institutions and communities that can benefit from it.
This launch is more than the beginning of a new organisation. It is an invitation to build a professional community in which people can share knowledge, open doors for one another, develop meaningful partnerships and create pathways for those coming after them.
